Inn On The Beach

A journey back from the brink

For a potted version of our past history, click here..

This is our personal story….

We always loved this building and so its demise to an underage drinking den, with rampant delapidations and frequent neighbourhood nuisance issues, was something that saddened us. As we already ran the very successful Chives cafes in Chichester and Hayling Island we set about a plan to bring the venue up to modern day standards and make it something Hayling Islanders could be truly proud of.

Despite some local opposition and negativity that we would make a success of it, after £250k of refurbishments the venue reopened and over 2000 people came to the opening party in the glorious sunshine with live music all day. We knew that with hard work and a focus on serving fantastic food, even in the midst of a recession, we would build something a little bit special here.

Never one to rest on our laurels, 2012 sees us putting in new decking areas outside, opening up a stunning Champagne and Oyster bar, relandscaping the front of the building where the car park is and many more things.

Then over the winter we’ll be turning our attention once more to the internal areas such as the conservatory.

Thank you to everyone for all your support over the last 3 years. It truly has been a wonderful, and ongoing, journey we hope you will make with us.

Beautiful Sea-Side Location
(Updated: March 04, 2013)
The Inn On The Beach is exactly what it says on the tin – an inn, planted right on the beach…In fact the IOTB actually hangs over the water at high tide meaning you couldn’t get any closer to the sea without actually jumping in.

With a gastro pub feel, but boasting more character (the IOTB has a long maritime history), this Hayling Island watering hole has an established link with watersports enthusiasts as the venue hosts the annual National Watersports Festival in September every year.

For those that don’t know, Hayling was the birthplace of windsurfing and the IOTB sits slap bang in the middle of windsurfing country on the island.
With its range of world beers, top fodder and friendly staff, the Inn On The Beach is worth a shout if you’re topping up your windy fix at the same time.
