Nirvanis Indian Kitchen

This New Jersey Indian restaurant donated $35,000 worth of food to first responders during Covid & After Seven Months Of Being Closed, They're Reopening.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY, USA, May 7, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Since 2008, Nirvanis Indian Kitchen has specialized inKati Rolls(Indian Burritos) assorted with over 24 different fillings and variations. Before the pandemic, Nirvanis Indian Kitchen was known for serving the best Kati rolls in the state of New Jersey. Customers would drive to their location on Easton Ave in New Brunswick just to order the best of authentic Indian cuisine. They offer a regional menu of the best of the best of India with a variety of kebabs, street food appetizers, curry entrees, gourmet Naan breads and a selection of a Indo-Chinese menu which is originated from the eastern border of India and the western border of china.. Guests loved their range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

When COVID-19 was declared a national emergency, Nirvanis Indian Kitchen stepped up. They began serving meals to the local hospitals which included RWJ New Brunswick, RWJ Rahway, RWJ Hamilton, St. Peters and many local police departments. Today, in all they donated more than $35,000 in food to these tireless groups.

In an effort to protect their staff and keep patrons safe, the owner of Nirvanis Indian Kitchen made the difficult decision to close its doors in mid-September.

However, this closure wasn’t ever meant to be permanent. Nirvanis Indian Kitchen used the seven months from September through April to perform a complete facelift on the restaurant designed to cut down on wait times and increase customer comfort. The kitchen was upgraded with state-of-the-art equipment and intuitive design to hone the timing of food preparation for dine-in and takeout customers. In addition to interior and exterior painting, patrons will enjoy upgrades to the two dining rooms, including new flooring, lighting fixtures, and more comfortable seating.

Review: Firestone Walker Parabola, Amburana, and Double Barrel 2021

Firestone Walker Parabola 2021

Christopher Null May 7, 2021

As Firestone Walker says, “Of all the beers in our Proprietor’s Vintage Series, Parabola is the most notorious,” describing it correctly as a “beast of a beer,” a monster that spends a year in whiskey barrels before bottling and which always lands in the double digits of alcohol by volume. This year we’re looking at the standard Parabola release, plus two special editions (which are only available in California). The details on each are below, so tuck in to our tasting notes on some of the most decadent beers on the market.

Firestone Walker Parabola 2021 – For the first time ever, this year’s edition was aged for 12 months in an equal mix of bourbon, rye, and wheat whiskey barrels. It’s a beautiful bruiser, a dark chocolate and mocha monster that offers the vanilla kick of American whiskey alongside notes of chewy prunes, tarry tobacco, and a hint of maple syrup. This lattermost element gives the finish a distinct sweetness, and while it’s not as cloying or overwhelming as many whiskey barrel-aged brews, it gets a bit syrupy on the finish as it starts to warm up — and as your glass nears empty. 13.6% abv. A- / $11 per 12 oz bottle

Firestone Walker Amburana Parabola 2021 – Here’s a new twist. This version of Parabola spends 12 months in 8 year old bourbon barrels and then gets racked and circulated through spirals of Brazilian Amburana wood, “which is prized for its beautiful baking spice flavors.” Sure enough, the notes of gingerbread and vanilla are amped up here above those of the still-evident coffee and chocolate notes, with a bold butterscotch note seducing the palate on the finish. Things get dank as you get toward the bottom of the bottle — and trust me, you will — with the flavors intensifying and coalescing with cassis notes and a hefty mocha character enduring pretty much forever. I love the Double Barrel (q.v.) and think it’s more complex, but this was the only bottle I polished off in one go. 14.6% abv. A / $11 per 12 oz bottle

Review: Foghat Cocktail Smoker

Foghat Cocktail Smoker

The pandemic has seen a huge upsurge in the number of ready-made cocktails in cans and bottles on the market, as people have adjusted to drinking at home more often. While there are some incredibly good pre-mixed cocktails available, there’s still nothing to beat a freshly-made cocktail creation of your own, especially when you have visitors.

The Thousand Oaks Barrel Co., which mainly sells, well, barrels, has now come up with a gizmo that allows anyone to emulate the professional mixologist and put on a bit of a show. Well, actually they haven’t come up with it. It was invented by an Englishman, but Thousand Oaks has brought it to the U.S. market.

The Cocktail Smoker is an ingenious device that allows you to smoke your own spirits or cocktails. The kit includes a round wooden holder that sits in the top of your glass. Inside of this you place a metal sieve-like device, into which you place some small wood chips. In our case these were Whiskey Barrel Oak chips, though other types of wood are available such as Sherry Toasted Oak, Devil’s Rum Punch, and Peat Bog Fog, which sell for $9.95. You only need a pinch of chips for each drink, so a tin of chips should last a while. The kit also includes the kitchen burner, complete with canister of propane.

After nervously reading through the very detailed precautionary notes, I chose a bottle of Speyburn 10 Years Old, which was almost empty, to experiment with. It’s a whisky with only the slightest touch of smoke about it. One drawback to the Foghat is that you can only do one glass at a time, but that’s easily remedied by using big glasses.

Feeling a little like the mad professor, and slightly put out that my wife suggested we do it outdoors, I assembled the parts and set the chips to burning. You pop the wooden top on the device, which is about the size of a coaster, set the chips ablaze, and wait. The resulting swirls of smoke go down into the glass and into the whiskey. It’s suggested you leave it for about three minutes, which I did, though I’m sure I’ll be experimenting.

Drinking Beverages From The Barrel Of A Baseball Bat Fuels Profits For Dugout Mugs

MLB engraved mugs out of the barrel of a baseball bat has fueled Dugout Mugs into millions in ... [+] profits

Dugout Mugs

As a licensee with MLB, Minor League Baseball, and more, Dugout Mugs, with their unique, engraved beverage containers made from the barrel of baseball bats, stands out in the crowd and has the company growing profits.

Each winter at the Baseball Winter Meetings, the largest room within the convention center they are held in will host the minor league trade show. Everything from mascot outfits to electronic displays to bullpen carts will be on display drawing in club executives to ink deals for ballparks in the upcoming season. The products can run from the obvious (caps to be sold in team stores) to the outlandish (brand new versions of the bullpen cart), a company that caught not just my eye but a large group of others was Winter Haven, Florida-based Dugout Mugs whose products center of mugs and wine glasses out of the barrel of a baseball bat.

After Blue Jays minor league pitching prospect Randall Thompson was cut after the 2011 season, he went back to college the company got rolling in 2017. From the beginning, the company has seen a growth path fueled by obtaining the licenses from MLB, MiLB, MLBHOF, and the MLBPA for logos and other marks. Review: Mic.Drop Rye L20-01 4 Years Old

Mic.Drop Rye L20-01 4 Years Old

Christopher Null May 7, 2021

The latest Mic.Drop release from PM Spirits isn’t a bourbon but a rye, another young gun at 4 years old, sourced from Wilderness Trail Distillery in Danville, Kentucky. Mic.Drop L20-01, which was released late last year, is drawn from just 5 casks of rye distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2020, made from a mash of 56% rye, 33% corn, and 11% barley malt. This is purportedly the first time Wilderness Trail has ever sold barrels of aged whiskey to anyone instead of bottling it themselves.

Well, let’s try it out.

Hearty on the nose, the whiskey has the classic punch of rye, all spice and pepper and dried fruits, impregnated with cedar wood and notes of dill. The palate is quite sweet but also impressively spiced, the notes of green herbs and fresh-cut cedar wood punching with some force. Then comes more of the fruit: Apple fritters in sweet cream. A splash of water does some good, tempering the heat and bringing out more of the barrel influence, including a gentle chocolate note that emerges on the finish. Hints of vanilla and brown sugar calm some of the unruly rye spice notes up top, letting the young but expressive rye do its thing with more of a sense of balance.

How the Chartreuse Swizzle Became a Modern Classic

In the San Francisco bar world of the early aughts, Fernet and Chartreuse loomed large. These intensely herbal, palate-challenging European liqueurs were the two prevailing “bartender’s handshakes,” shared over countless bar tops as a sign of connoisseurship.

“I was always squarely in the Fernet camp,” recalls Jon Santer, a veteran San Francisco bartender, “but Chartreuse had a fanatical following. I remember there was even a guy who hung out in North Beach and Russian Hill who had his car painted Green Chartreuse.”

Fellow bartender Marcovaldo Dionysos was one of those Chartreuse fanatics. So much so, that starting in 1999, he entered the San Francisco cocktail competition sponsored by the French herbal liqueur every year for five years running. For the first four contests, he landed on the podium, including one first-place finish. Having achieved this respectable measure of success as a Chartreuse master, Dionysos was prepared to sit out the fifth competition in 2003.

“I didn’t have any great ideas,” he remembers. But the organizer of the event reached out and asked him to reconsider. “I decided to make something fun and went in a tropical direction,” he recalls.

His entry was the Chartreuse Swizzle, an improbable drink that dragged the centuries-old European liqueur into the realm of tiki. He paired it with pineapple juice, lime juice, mint, a load of crushed ice and one final ingredient that all but stole the show from the bright green elixir: Velvet Falernum.
