EDRINGTON AWARDS KEY CONTRACT TO ELITE CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR NEW MACALLAN DISTILLERY

Software process control system to ensure iconic new distillery and visitor centre operate like clock-work

LIVINGSTON, Scotland – 20 October 2016 – Elite Control Systems Ltd, a leading provider of systems integration and engineering support services, announced that it has been awarded a major contract by Scotland’s leading premium spirits company Edrington for its new distillery and visitor centre for The Macallan whisky, one of the world’s leading luxury Scotch malt whiskies.

Nestled in the parklands of The Macallan Estate in Speyside, the contemporary distillery promises to be, according to Edrington, “a site of major architectural significance,” as well as a huge boost to tourism and the local economy. With architects Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners, designers of the Millennium Dome and Pompidou Centre, commissioned to design and build it, the new facility will not only “complement the natural beauty of the area,” but be highly innovative and environmentally sound.

Edrington is relying on Elite Control Systems to write the full process software control package, and provide ongoing support services following commissioning. This combination of technology and 24-hour technical support will ensure that the automated control systems that Edrington uses to operate the new plant function properly, so that production remains on track and the visitor centre remains open to welcome thousands of visitors all year-round.

Two Roads Bog Wild Cranberry Sour Ale comes to ‘Road Less Traveled’ series in Nov.

Two Roads Bog Wild Cranberry Sour Ale comes to ‘Road Less Traveled’ series in Nov.

[Press Release:]

(Stratford, CT) – Two Roads Brewing of Stratford, CT will release their newest beer in the “Road Less Traveled” series in early November. Named Bog Wild, the beer is a tart cranberry sour made with fresh cranberry juice and spices.

Brewed using a mixed fermentation process including Lactic and Belgian yeast strains with two varietals of cranberries sourced from a local juicery–Bog Wild is an excellent addition to any holiday table. The two cranberry varietals, Howe and Early Black, come from nearby juice maker RIPE and were chosen for their exceptional flavor and deep color. When combined with a blend of spices including caraway and coriander, this mixture brings out the fresh tartness of the cranberries and creates a beautiful balance.

“RIPE helped us source the cranberries and processed them exactly the way we wanted. The cranberries are 100% traceable in origin, having come directly from the growers in Massachusetts,” said Two Roads Master Brewer Phil Markowski. “At our request they retained the seeds and skins of the cranberries after being pressed in order to contribute additional complexity to the brew. The seeds and skins provide soft tannins that add nuance and structure similar to winemaking methods.”

Bog Wild is 6.5% ABV and will be available in early November in 750mL bottles and limited draft.

JDub’s now interviewing distributors in Georgia

JDub’s now interviewing distributors in Georgia

[Press Release:]

(Sarasota, FL) – In the near future, JDub’s beers will be available in Georgia. JDub’s is currently interviewing distributors in the Peach State and we hope to be on shelves in stores and on draft lines soon. Recent IRI data gives us optimism for the expansion, which shows that over the past month, JDub’s is the #1 selling Florida craft brewery amongst all beers sold in Florida liquor stores. (IRI sales data snippet available upon request) Moreover, we have already built a solid relationship with Kroger that will be a focus of ours moving into the new territory.

“Kroger is a giant account, for any brewer in America. We’ve been eager to get our beers in the Kroger stores for a long time and are thrilled to roll up our sleeves and being working with them. They truly ‘get’ craft beer.” Jeremy “JDub” Joerger

Bell Cow Milk Chocolate Porter. JDub’s is thrilled to announce that due to a high-demand for our Nitro version of Bell Cow Milk Chocolate Porter, we have decided to discontinue production of the CO2 version in draft form and from this point forward, will only produce Nitro Bell Cow on draft. For the foreseeable future, canned Bell Cow will still be in CO2 form. Feedback similar to the comments below gives us confidence this will be a good move for the brewery:

“Reserving a nitro line for J Dubs’ Bell Cow was a great decision for our locations,” said Legends’ owner Jim Burdo. “It has quickly become a staple of our draft lineup. Guest feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Bell Cow has out performed our 2nd nitro line 3 to 1.” – Pat Murphy & Jim Burdo, Legends Pub and Tap 72, Sarasota, FL

ThirstyBear Organic Stave Series No. 16 The Wild American now available

ThirstyBear Organic Stave Series No. 16 The Wild American now available
visit-california-increases-traveler-interest-with-youtube-campaign_case-studies_lg_300

[Press Release:]

(San Francisco, CA) – The Northern California craft beer scene is in many ways comparable to the Wild West of yesteryear with breweries bucking tradition and carving out their own innovative ways of brewing some of the country’s best beers. For its annual limited-edition Stave Series, ThirstyBear Organic Brewery puts a uniquely American spin on the ancient Belgian brewing practice of wild fermentation. Barrel aged in American oak, STAVE SERIES NO. 16: THE WILD AMERICAN is inoculated with Brettanomyces and dry-hopped with the American hop varietal Mosaic. STAVE SERIES NO. 16: THE WILD AMERICAN is ThirstyBear’s latest small batch draft release, a highly coveted annual favorite for Bay Area craft beer fans.

STAVE SERIES NO. 16: THE WILD AMERICAN is a golden ale aged for nine months with “bruxellensis trois” for a wild yeast-like fermentation. The result is a smooth ale boasting mouth-puckering tartness with mango and pineapple notes. The aromas are complemented by dry-hopping in the barrels with Mosaic hops.

Head Brewmaster Brenden Dobel comments, “Our last Stave Series beer The Dark Age was a beautiful imperial porter aged in bourdon barrels released for SF Beer Week 2016. We’re utilizing these same barrels for The Wild American, which is a perfect vehicle for a long secondary fermentation that’s infused with Brettanomyces. In an untraditional manner, we’ve dry-hopped The Wild American for an enhanced hop character. It’s a nod to the American craft brewers love of the hop, which transcends all other brewing cultures. I selected the American hop Mosaic for its tropical fruit aromas to complement the complex fruity character and ‘funkiness’ of the Brettanomyces aging.”

Come on in to ThirstyBear for a pint of The Wild American. With a 6% ABV, you’ll be able to enjoy a few and maybe just discover The Wild American inside of yourself!

Short’s The Double Magician Double Red Ale to be released on Friday, Oct. 28

Short’s The Double Magician Double Red Ale to be released on Friday, Oct. 28

[Press Release:]

(Elk Rapids, MI) – Short’s Brewing Company announces the distribution of a new seasonal beer, The Double Magician. A double version of staple brew and fan favorite, The Magician, The Double Magician is slated to be released on Halloween.

The Double Magician (8.1% ABV – 49 IBU) is a Double London-Style Red Ale. Deep mahogany in color with an off white head, The Double Magician has aromas of toffee, light citrus, and just a hint of roast. The Double Magician is medium-bodied with flavors of raisin, toffee, and a slight hop bitterness. The finish is balanced and dry.

Named in honor of Short’s Partner, Scott Newman-Bale, The Magician was originally brewed at Short’s Bellaire pub in 2007. A double version of the Magician was conceived by the Short’s Brewing Company executive team as a new seasonal offering in Summer 2016.

According to CEO and Creative Engineer, Joe Short “The Magician came to mind when looking to fill a late fall / early winter slot in our seasonal release schedule, but we decided that it wasn’t quite burly enough on its own to fill the “winter warming” criteria we were looking for. At that point it became clear to us that if we doubled up on The Magician, it would not only be an amazing beer and fit the bill perfectly, but it would pay homage to the magic man himself. I mean, one dose of Scooter is enough to get us through our day, but a double version of The Magician gives us enough Scooter power to do anything.”

Bozal Espadin-Barril-Mexicano Ensemble

Bozal Espadin-Barril-Mexicano Ensemble

Adding to its portfolio of Mexican spirits, 3 Badge Beverage Corp. introduced The Bozal Espadin-Barril-Mexicano Ensemble mezcal. The 47 percent alcohol-by-volume spirit blends three agaves in small batches using traditional techniques of mezcaleros. The agave hearts are cooked in earthen pit ovens and later crushed and mased by a stone Tahona wheel, the company says. Open-air fermentation, relying on native yeasts, allows the sugars to ferment naturally before it is purified through a double-distillation process. The mezcal features floral and citrus aromas with an earthy, herbaceous character, it adds. Bozal Espadin-Barril-Mexicano Ensemble is packaged in 750-ml glass bottles that are available in select markets for a suggested retail price of $50.

Dos Equis reveals first commercial of new Most Interesting Man in the World

Dos Equis reveals first commercial of new Most Interesting Man in the World

After premiering a trailer of The Most Interesting Man in the World last month, Dos Equis, a brand of White Plains, N.Y.-based Heineken USA, released a full-length commercial, “Airboat,” which reveals more of the character’s mystique and depth. In this latest installment, viewers ride full throttle alongside The Most Interesting Man and discover more about his legend, as he races airboats down sand dunes and spars in Samurai armor, the company says.

The modernized campaign features a more interactive character whose adventures show why he’s different and how he’s gained his legendary status. The commercial also portrays how the creative team and character have evolved during the past decade, reflecting the differences of what it means to be “interesting” to today’s millennial beer drinkers 21 and older, it adds.

“While ‘Legend Lines’ continue to be the backbone of our campaign, a lot has changed with the rollout of the evolved character,” said Andrew Katz, vice president of marketing for Dos Equis, in a statement. “The Most Interesting Man is edgier, and we’ve also modified the ‘Stay Thirsty, My Friends’ tagline at the end of each commercial. Staying true to the innate brand DNA, The Most Interesting Man can be seen celebrating interesting experiences with his amigos, while enjoying our new Dos Equis cans in high-energy settings.”

The creative evolution of the campaign, created by Havas Worldwide, is deeply rooted in research that the meaning of interesting has changed during the past decade: 84 percent of men think that what is interesting today is different from what was interesting a decade ago, the company says, citing its February 2016 study conducted by Edelman Intelligence.

“The new Most Interesting Man is a man of action. He’s never one to reminisce on times past, which stylistically changes everything. With a faster pace and more energy, we’re reinvigorating and modernizing one of the greatest campaigns,” said Toygar Bazarkaya, chief creative officer of the Americas at Havas Worldwide. “In the first full commercial, viewers will also see the Most Interesting Man being joined by an adventurous female travel companion who goes head-to-head with him.”

Sierra Nevada Sidecar Orange Pale Ale, Torpedo Tropical IPA coming Q1 2017

Sierra Nevada Sidecar Orange Pale Ale, Torpedo Tropical IPA coming Q1 2017
sierra-nevada-tropical-torpedo-tropical-ipa-6pk-beerpulse

[Press Release:]

(Chico, CA) — Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. announced two new products to hit the market in Q1 2017: Sidecar Orange Pale Ale and Tropical Torpedo IPA. With nearly 5,000 craft breweries in operation in the United States, Sierra Nevada ranks third in annual volume with products like Pale Ale and Torpedo IPA leading the charge. “Innovation is part of our DNA,” says Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada. “36 years ago we changed the way Americans look at hoppy beer with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. In 2017 we’ll be doing it again, with fresh takes on beer styles that we helped pioneer: pale ale and IPA.”

Sidecar Orange Pale Ale is the perfect accompaniment to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Made with orange peel and bold, citrus-heavy hops, this 35 IBUs and 5.3% ABV addition is a refreshing twist on the classic pale ale.

Using the proprietary dry-hopping device – the “Hop Torpedo” – Sierra Nevada is able to control how much hop aroma is infused into beer without adding additional bitterness. Tropical Torpedo IPA is prime for new drinkers entering the craft beer market via the IPA style. “A lot of the excitement is coming from IPA styles utilizing intense aromatic hops that deliver notes of exotic fruits,” says Brian Grossman, second generation brewer for Sierra Nevada. “The rush of hop flavor and lush aromas of mango, papaya and passionfruit awaken your senses with our most adventurous IPA yet.” This IPA has no fruit added and weighs in at 6.7% ABV and 55 IBUs, making it a truly sessionable beer fit for a variety of drinking occasions.
