If it looks like a dive...
Holiday Cocktail Lounge looks like a pretty typical dive, and in this case looks are not deceiving. The specials on pitchers are really good for the East Village and the service is friendly enough. The crowd tends to be mixed and is not always as mellow as one would expect.
