Despite being so close to Columbia U., this place is not infiltrated with students or ironic hipsters and still retains a vintage punk vibe with past punk show posters bespeckling the exposed brick walls and a series of cuckoo clocks behind the bar with the guitar neck beer taps. This place is considered a subterranean safe haven where one can drink alone or with friends and not be hassled or feel stupid and just have a shot and a beer for a lean six bucks while listening to some pretty terrific local garage bands.
