Don't go here if you're looking for a cheap sports bar. The prices are typical of what is found in a club and it's way more lounge than sports bar. They have bottle service, karaoke and Korean food. The food is decent, but again very expensive. ...
Go here if you're really into soccer because that's what this bar is all about. The food is pretty average as is the drink selection, but the people are friendly and knowledgeable about soccer, and many of the games can be found on one of their TVs. The...
Went here for a Murder Mystery show and it was not what I expected. The show was ok but relied too heavily on user participation. In addition Eamonns sound system was out. The dinner they gave us tasted like frozen rubber and since they overbooked we had...
The selection is nothing to speak of and I guess it's cheap for the area but Killarney Rose is not really that special. With that said it's solid and you'll probably what you would expect out of a pub in this area. Don't expect much from their wings...
I know the Coyote Ugly thing is tired, but the dancing girls at the Iron Horse NYC are really just having fun - at least it seems like they are. The drink specials are quite good, even after Happy Hour and the place is rowdy and generally a lot...
Probably one of my favorite places in the area, Greenwich Treehouse is just cool. They have a really cool back room; try to grab it if you're with a group. I admit the place is a little disorienting but you get used to it. Awesome Happy Hour...
I'm mixed on Scratcher. The people are pretty cool and the prices are good, but the bartenders can be really standoffish sometimes, like they're doing you a big favor. The bathrooms are rather disgusting as can be expected at any dive bar in the village so no surprise....
Not many places can you find homemade cocktails and crepes in the same place, but Shade manages to pull it off rather effectively. There's not loud music or obnoxious idiots and the drinks are off the hook. The crepes are above average, but not great.
The drinks are among some of the better cocktails I've had. Try the Waterloo Sunset if you can. The setting is ideal for a date but be warned that it's small and gets jammed during peak hours.
I call it Soccer but they call it Football, either way Nevada Smiths is otherwise known as the Church of Football and rightfully so. They have countless games on at any given time. The place is pretty darn big, bartenders are authentic enough and the drinks are reasonably priced....
Although that tout themselves as a gastropub, I found the food pretty standard fare. That's not to say it wasn't good, but it wasn't very exciting. The beer selection is fairly typical for a pub, but the prices are better than average as is the ambiance. ...
They really are serious about people not being too loud, which is fine if you are familiar with the place, but at first is going to be a little bit weird. Great selection of beer, just keep it down.
If you really like dive bars than Doc Holliday's is a decent alternative, but I can find plenty of places that are just as gross and half as cheap. I'll say that the place has a bunch of interesting characters though.
There's no good reason to go to the Blue Bar unless you like being wasteful with money. I know that these bars within hotels are usually expensive, but this was ridiculous. $20 for a pretty standard drink is not acceptable anywhere. It's too bad because otherwise the...
They have a system to keep your beer cold and it works. The drinks are 2 for 1 during Happy Hour and the bartenders are fast and knowledgeable. It gets a little too crowded from time to time. They play a lot of sports that I'm not into, but...
Great place to go if you're are a baseball fan, which I am. The food has unique names related to the game and is quite good. Drinks are reasonably priced, but the place is laden with tourists. Still, a nice place to enjoy the game and talk...
I went here once and found it overly pretentious. This is fine if the place can live up to its claims, but Bar Centrale cannot. Not that it's a total wash, as the old school drinks are good but the process of finding the place, fighting over reservations...
Holiday Cocktail Lounge looks like a pretty typical dive, and in this case looks are not deceiving. The specials on pitchers are really good for the East Village and the service is friendly enough. The crowd tends to be mixed and is not always as mellow as one...
What a great bunch of guys the staff at Hibernia are. They sponsor charity events, promote day trips and all around know how to treat their patrons right. That's what makes this bar special, because otherwise everything else is par for the course.
Not many pubs have this good of a menu, and that's what truly differentiates Niall's from the other 100 pubs in the area. The bartenders are friendly and the beers are standard. Between 3 and 7 drafts are $5 - an ok price I guess.
I have mixed feelings about Brodie's. The beer is good and fairly affordable, although I wouldn't say cheap. The interior of the bar is warm and neighborhood like without being a dive, yet the bartenders are short with you and sometimes nasty. That's usually a deal breaker for me. ...
There is a lot of wine bars in this part of the city, but the Ten Degrees Bar stands out for its 2 for 1 Happy Hour special and delicious food. I have a soft spot for their salads. The drinks are the usually collection of homemade drinks...
One of the truly great Irish bars and restaurants in the area, Landmark certainly lives up to its legacy. They even play traditional Irish music on Mondays. The menu is well beyond the scope of the average pub, and you'll be wondering why you said Irish food sucked...
The only problem I have with this place is that some of the patrons look like they have given up hope, but otherwise it's a great place to get extremely cheap drinks. You could probably spend all day in here and have it cost you about $30 - I...
Great atmosphere, terrific food and wonderful cask beer; that's what you'll get at Cask Bar. There really isn't much to complain about except that maybe it gets too crowded sometimes, but overall this is a wonderful place to grab a drink or have a full meal. ...
Another good dive bar in the East Village, this one an homage to the East Village of old. They have good specials on Guinness and a great jukebox. Good place to go for a quieter night out with friends. If you're lucky you can hear a conversation...
The Library might be too much of a dive for some. The bathroom is borderline disgusting and the whole place feels grimy. I don't particularly mind that sort of thing just so long as the drinks and crowd are good; which they are for the most part....
The red lighting scheme is romantic I suppose and it definitely makes the place feel like a scene out of a movie. The booths were not set up properly and the ambiance is fairly plain (beyond the lights). Still, they have pretty good specials on beer and mixed...
The lighting in Shoolbred's is insane. It must have something to do with the colorful stained windows, but the place literally glows with warmth. The Happy Hour 2 for 1 specials are awesome, especially since they give you a chip to redeem. This means that if you...
You wouldn't expect this much character from a dive bar, but B Side is pretty cool. The crowd is often times loud and full of energy, but sometimes there are people in there that just stare at you. The bathrooms are not for the faint of heart but...
We went here because we wanted to try something different, and different we got. The drinks are insanely expensive and even though they're pretty good you can go to a hundred places and have better for half the price. I guess you're paying for the atmosphere, but I...
If you're not in the mood to pay a little extra for fantastic cocktails, go somewhere else. Elsa is truly a unique experience and one of the finest cocktail bars in this part of the city. Anytime I've been there it was never overly crowded and the service...
This is a nice place to go to, even if it is located all the way out on Avenue C. The mixed drinks are heavenly, and the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. The problem is that sometimes it gets very crowded, and it's probably best to go early...
I'm a bit biased here, because I love a good glass of sake. This place is literally a hole in the wall; it looks like a creepy, dingy speakeasy. At the same time, the locals are fairly friendly and their selection is fantastic. Looks can be deceiving...
I recommend Teneleven on nights where they are doing something cool, but the problem is you'll never know what to expect. Sometimes the music they spin is just god awful. The beer specials are pretty consistent and it's a decent place to go have a drink if you...
The selling point of Lelabar is not the intimate setting and large selection, which is nice, but the prices. They are cheaper than you would at expect in an upscale place in the West Village. Good place to bring a date or loved one.
I don't know if there is a better deal in the city than a beer and free hot dog for under $5. Rudy's goes back a long time and is great for those looking to have a bite and a drink. They're really big on stopping underage drinking,...
There's no real selling point to this place besides the cheap drinks, yet it's still cool. Good place to meet someone and start a conversation, if only for an hour. It's pretty small and gets packed with 20 somethings at night. Go if you like low keyed...
You can't beat the service at Bua. It's quick and the servers and bartenders are super friendly, even when it gets busy at night. Great place to go during the warmer months and have a bite since they have outdoor seating. The prices are fairly average for...
They have some nice beers, nothing like a beer bar, but the setting is better. I'm a fan of the colors; they're dark, warm and inviting. It feels like a good place to bring a date. The prices are slightly better than average for the area....
