Bar Review for Scrooge Pub - Good place for Westerners in Seoul

You would think that having fun and drinking crosses cultures - while that might be true, I would have to say in this pub review that the "feeling" I got in this Korean hangout still felt more comfortable and homey than some other bars in the same district....

Pub review for B One Lounge - too trendy for me

It definitely seems like a popular place, so I wouldn't be surprised if this pub review seemed a bit out of place with others who might review it. Perhaps I'm not really into the Seoul Bar scene... that's not really a criticism. After all, I'm a visitor...

Glenfiddich - great Speyside malt

I've appended Michael Jackson's tasting notes from his book (he gives this one an "8"): Nose: Very rich. Palate: More mellow and rounded, soft and restrained, with very soft body. Finish: Nutty with a flowery hint of peat. Comment: Scores points for sophistication and...

Vy Bar - unexpectedly good for an airport hotel bar

In spite of a crowd much younger than I was expecting for an airport Hyatt Regency (Incheon) bar, it still had the variety I was hoping for. I didn't try anything too tricky... just sipped a nice Macallan 12 year old and enjoyed people trying desperately to be the next...

Outstanding single malt

An excellent drink with a fantastic bouquet. Something well worth remembering.

Excellent taste - but not better value

I found this one really enjoyable, but considering the almost equally enjoyable experience and a much lower price, I feel that it still comes in second to the Cragganmore 12 Year Old (see https://drinkedin.net/scotch/cragganmore-12-year-old) in terms of overall value.

A surprising scotch - great taste and value

I tasted this one side by side with the pricier Glenlivet 18 and while I wouldn't call this 12 year old a clear winner, it definitely stood up against the more expensive scotch. This is one that will be a standard in my cabinet.

Great memories - college days...

Some might think of The Boot as a hole in the wall hangout, but I have only good memories of this neighborhood hangout. Writing a bar review for the boot is based only on memories and perhaps some of my memories are a bit outdated. I hope others can follow...

A Classic Speyside Scotch

Certainly a favorite and not too expensive. I remember one cruise I was on, the people from the liquor shop on board was selling these for $25/bottle (by mistake, I assume) - I only bought one - I really missed out... should have bought 10!

Great mixer

Good ol' Black Jack is a standard for mixing bourbon and coke. Easy to make and great for parties. Straight up, it doesn't match the single barrel brands like Elijah Craig and Evan Williams... but it's not as pricy either... Overall - a solid...

World record of 14 magnums!

Back in the ol' days, I was with a group of buddies and we set a record of drinking 14 magnums. That might not seem like a lot until you consider it's about 15 Hurricanes per magnum. That's quite a lot of rum for anyone."Kingfish" was our waiter (he...

Another great bay area beer

American beers often get a bad name (some well deserved), but the Anchor line of beers has great appeal and definitely has a world class taste...

Excellent selection...

A great European style pub in the Middle East - what more can you ask for? Great selection of beers and the atmosphere is excellent. I highly recommend stopping by for a drink on your next visit to Tel Aviv.
